About Me

My photo
Adalbert is a forum for me, to post ephemera, photography, poetry, occasional travel notes, and various spontaneous motions. Cover photo: Parsonage where my great-grandfather spent his early years. Taken near Liegnitz, Silesia, ca. 1870. The "xothique" portion of the web address is a nod to Clark Ashton Smith's fictional continent of Zothique.

How to drive fast and not get killed

  1. Like the Popular Mechanics cover. The Apocalypse Now quote brought to mind Joseph Conrad's Heart of Darkness which I read a long time ago. More recently I read his novel
Typhoon which is probably the best sea story
    I've ever read. Interesting man.

  2. I'm more worried about getting lasered by the police when I drive fast.

  3. Yes, Conrad was one of the greats, Ray -- all the more astounding considering that English wasn't his first language. I re-read Under Western Eyes most recently.
