About Me

My photo
Adalbert is a forum for me, to post ephemera, photography, poetry, occasional travel notes, and various spontaneous motions. Cover photo: Parsonage where my great-grandfather spent his early years. Taken near Liegnitz, Silesia, ca. 1870. The "xothique" portion of the web address is a nod to Clark Ashton Smith's fictional continent of Zothique.

  1. I've been a fan of collage for a long time. Discovered Kurt Schwitters about the time I discovered Kafka which all seemed to fit together. Have been experimenting with digital collage with varying results.

  2. Ray, I've been interested in Schwitters, Hannah Höch, Raoul Hausmann, and other collage artists for a long spell as well. I'm intrigued by the way in which a new dynamic appears by combining images from different sources. I'd be interested in seeing some of your digital collages posted, if you haven't already that is. I thought I saw such a digital collage on Rigadoon23 at some point. Looking back through some older posts, I couldn't find it, though (but there's a lot of great stuff on there).

    1. I counted 38 collages, some photographs and drawings (coloured scribbley things) of mine mostly posted in the early part of my blog. I've been blogging for about 10 months so there isn't too much there. If you go to July 2012 in my blog archives the first thing I posted was a collage of Gaddafi with 2 micky mouses, then one of my photos and then another collage. Most collages have postage stamps in them. Then they follow quite quickly after that. (Note my favorite writer, Louis-Ferdinand Celine)
