About Me

My photo
Adalbert is a forum for me, to post ephemera, photography, poetry, occasional travel notes, and various spontaneous motions. Cover photo: Parsonage where my great-grandfather spent his early years. Taken near Liegnitz, Silesia, ca. 1870. The "xothique" portion of the web address is a nod to Clark Ashton Smith's fictional continent of Zothique.

Buzz Cut Boy

  1. I think we might just be able to see the stand (which helped him hold his pose, I don't know it's proper name, if there was one) behind his ear. Lots of interesting detail on the backdrop.

  2. I like his haircut, it's rather like mine, and he seems to have large hands going by the one you can see.

  3. Ray, he does possess a strangely big hand, doesn't he? The more I look at this photo, the more unsettling it becomes. I've worn my hair like that once or twice.

  4. The stand also brings up the possibility of post-mortem photography. I saw some material online indicating that 19th. c. photographers mainly used posture stands for the living. However, the left leg of the boy in the this photo looks weirdly slack, as if positioned by another.

    1. I don't know about a stand for the left leg but the leg does look odd, the positioning of the foot looks strange..
