Here marks the fifth anniversary of the Adalbert blog. Five years ago today I wrote my first three sentence post, and the first image I used in the blog was a deliberately mislabeled photograph of Aleister Crowley. To suggest a circle, here are two images of the Master Therion from the time of the attempted summiting of K2 in 1902:
Frater Perdurabo is second from the right in the lower picture.
And here's a daruma doll someone gave me in Gunma-ken, Japan, years back.
Congratulations on the first 5 years, Jonathan. Great photo of Crowley, is that really him taking a bath? I enjoyed reading his autobiography which was very long and detailed.
ReplyDeleteHe ended his years here in Hastings as I'm sure you know.
Many thanks, Ray. I had my doubts about the Crowley photo as well, but as far as I can tell it's authentic, resembling other photos of him from the K2 expedition (he certainly was much beefier in later years). He certainly explored the limits of the body and mind. His autobiography is a good read, I agree. I'd forgotten he spent his last years in Hastings, if it ever registered in the first place.
ReplyDeletecongratulations on 5 years!
ReplyDeleteThanks Lisa!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! I must admit I'd never heard of 'The Great Beast 666' or his relegion before. I do know about Zen, althought I didn't know there was a doll modeled after its founder. I hope it brings you good luck!
ReplyDeleteThank you Rob, the Great Beast is one of the figures behind the Beatles on Sgt. Peppers!
