Adalbert is a forum for me, to post ephemera, photography, poetry, occasional travel notes, and various spontaneous motions. Cover photo: Parsonage where my great-grandfather spent his early years. Taken near Liegnitz, Silesia, ca. 1870. The "xothique" portion of the web address is a nod to Clark Ashton Smith's fictional continent of Zothique.
Ray, I've heard of Jenny Lind, don't remember a lot about her (I'll have to remedy that). Sounds like a cool pub. I imagine a number of Swedes immigrated to McKeesport. Her framing almost gives the picture a 3D effect, as if she's about to get up and start walking, and I notice a melancholy, pensive expression.
Ray, sounds like a good place to tip a pint regardless. Lisa, it is an appealing photo, makes one wonder about their life stories. This one only has "grandmother Karl" on the back.
I don't know if your aware, Jonathan, Jenny Lind was a Swedish opera singer. We have a pub here in the old town of Hastings named after her.

ReplyDeleteOk, just looked her up, not necessarily a Swedish influence for the street name, she was just extremely popular.
ReplyDeletea beautiful photo and young lady, such a tiny waist. She does look deep in thought. Jenny Lind street sounds like a nice address.
ReplyDeleteI'm not even sure about the pub name Jonathan, I assumed it was named after the Swedish opera singer. Think now I could be wrong.
