About Me

My photo
Adalbert is a forum for me, to post ephemera, photography, poetry, occasional travel notes, and various spontaneous motions. Cover photo: Parsonage where my great-grandfather spent his early years. Taken near Liegnitz, Silesia, ca. 1870. The "xothique" portion of the web address is a nod to Clark Ashton Smith's fictional continent of Zothique.

Kwagiulth Chief's Daughter/ Potlatch

I attended a dance ceremony (ok, aimed mainly at tourists) put on by the Kwagiulth tribe in Victoria BC some years back.

  1. I'm not a fan of these dances-for-tourists, but it's better than nothing. Impressive photo (when you see it larger), but also sad, these interesting cultures nearly wiped away, demoted to tourist attractions.

  2. Agreed Rob, around where I live some tribes disappeared completely.
